Love letter to The Dodos

I don’t care what anyone else says, I personally think the new Dodos album is great. Actually, better than great. Awesome, in fact. So take *THAT*, snobby music critics, clearly *MY* opinion matters more.

For those of you who don’t know the full story, their new album Time to Die was scheduled to drop on September 15th, but it leaked and instead of bitching and complaining and fighting the inevitable, the Dodos – while still justifiably irked that this happened – embraced the situation and not only moved up the digital release date to July 28th, but also posted a full, high-quality stream of the album on TimeToDie.net. I applaud their move on this almost as much as I’m applauding their new album (and will be handing over my hard-earned cash to PURCHASE it on July 28th. As you should too.)

In the meantime, check out ‘Fables’, their first track off the album that they’re providing as a free download. 2:46 into the song I develop a huge crush on it, and by 3:33, I’m firmly in lust.

Dodos, thanks for making me swoon once again.

PS: You’re hunky. Wanna go out when you get done touring? Love, Aubs

Today’s song is one I’ve been meaning to download for months now since I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the band, Local Natives. It finally took a chance listen on XMU (Sirius-XM 43, YO!) for me to instantly fall in love with this song, “Airplanes”. It’s been on repeat for five days now, and I’m enamored with the percussion and the use of the violin over the guitars. I MUST catch this LA band in concert, and it MUST be soon.

Daily Tuneage: Monday, July 20th

Today’s Daily Tuneage is brought to you by the letter “S”. (And “U”, “C”, & “K” while we’re at it.) This song is really awful but I can’t get it out of my head. I suppose it’s some sort of karmic retribution for that time in 5th grade when I snuck into the boys bathroom just to see how the low the urinals were and walked in on that poor 2nd grader.

I apologize, young lad (who, these days, would still be older than my last boyfriend is.)

Now can we re-align the world and let me get this song OUT OF MY HEAD? Kthxbai.

PS: Today’s song is “Don’t Trust Me” by 3OH!3. I mean, really? REALLY? I’m mortified just writing that.

Pondering

I do some of my best thinking while
driving. I wonder if there is a direct correlation between my recent confusion & sense of restlessness and my lack of a commute.

Deep thoughts (illegally) written while – where else!? – driving.
