Hi-Fi Goon, yo.

Upon my friend Keith’s recommendation TWO SXSW’s ago, I saw the Seattle band “Throw Me the Statue” at some cramped, teensy, sweaty venue. I think they may have even flung sweat on me, which is basically your indie rock baptism. They’ve recently released a new album – Creaturesque – which I purchased immediately based on the strength of its first single, “Hi-Fi Goon”, a catchy tune that’s been all over XMU, my musical muse. Check it out, then pony up the cash to get the whole album – it’s SOLID.

I wanna hold your hand…er, I mean, paw

My coworker recently adopted the sweetest dog I have ever met (LilaBelle, close your ears), a Great Pyrenees named Falcor. He's this huge, galumphing 109 lb. dog with this kind, gentle soul. He comes to work almost every day and I'm guessing it's pretty hard for Jen to get anything done since EVERYONE has to come over and pet him.

Sometimes he even likes to hold hands.

Moving announcements

If you’re one my friends that sends me notes and cards and goodies in the mail – which means that there is a 92.6% chance you’re Southern or currently live in the South – THIS will soon be showing up in your mailbox.

Damn. I ruined the surprise. I never *have* been very good with secrets… Moving announcements

Love letter to The Dodos

I don’t care what anyone else says, I personally think the new Dodos album is great. Actually, better than great. Awesome, in fact. So take *THAT*, snobby music critics, clearly *MY* opinion matters more.

For those of you who don’t know the full story, their new album Time to Die was scheduled to drop on September 15th, but it leaked and instead of bitching and complaining and fighting the inevitable, the Dodos – while still justifiably irked that this happened – embraced the situation and not only moved up the digital release date to July 28th, but also posted a full, high-quality stream of the album on TimeToDie.net. I applaud their move on this almost as much as I’m applauding their new album (and will be handing over my hard-earned cash to PURCHASE it on July 28th. As you should too.)

In the meantime, check out ‘Fables’, their first track off the album that they’re providing as a free download. 2:46 into the song I develop a huge crush on it, and by 3:33, I’m firmly in lust.

Dodos, thanks for making me swoon once again.

PS: You’re hunky. Wanna go out when you get done touring? Love, Aubs
